Critical Update, May 17, 1999 (Outlook Express 4.01 Service Pack 1 - DEC Alpha)
This update addresses a Year 2000 issue related to receiving an IMAP mail message
or a news message with a 2-digit year as the sent-date, and is discussed in Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) Article Q234680. Download now to ensure that
Outlook Express 4.01 Service Pack 1 processes 2-digit dates correctly.

To determine the version of Outlook Express that you are running, and whether or not you need to update, go to the Help menu in Outlook Express, click About Microsoft Outlook Express, and look at the number below the words "Outlook Express" in the dialog box:
- If the number is 5.00.20xx.xxxx or higher, you do not need the update.
- If the number is 4.72.36xx.x, you need the update for Outlook Express 4.01 Service Pack 2.
- If the number is 4.72.31xx.x, you need the update for Outlook Express 4.01 Service Pack 1.
- If the number is 4.71.17xx.x or 4.72.21xx.x, you need to either:
- Upgrade (This site is in English) to Internet Explorer and Outlook
Express 5.
- Upgrade (This site is in English) to Internet Explorer and Outlook Express 4.01 Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2 and then apply the appropriate update.
You don't need to do anything after installing this item.
